Kevin Michael Blessman, age 57 of Robinson Township, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at home. He was born on March 1, 1967, in Monroe, MI, to Sharon (Don) Gary and Jack (Connie) Blessman.
Kevin graduated from Grand Haven High School, Class of 1985. Upon graduation from high school, he went on to proudly serve his country in the US Navy aboard the USS Fife from 1985 to 1989 and was recognized as Sailor of the Year.
Kevin’s career started by serving as a Kent County Deputy for 11 years. He then held a position as Director of Maintenance in Health Care, which he did until his passing.
Kevin married Pam Gutierrez on May 1, 1993, and together they had a loving relationship while raising their daughter, Natasha.
Kevin enjoyed spending his time in the great outdoors with his Robinson Township Family. His passion for the outdoors expressed itself as a strong affinity for hunting and fishing. Kevin spent many years hunting and spending time with his Grandpa Matthews, Uncle Bud, and Uncle Jack making lifelong memories, and he has many big bucks to show his accomplishments. Kevin also enjoyed camping, mud running, side-by-side riding, and snowmobiling. His greatest joy in life was his loving wife of 31 years, Pamela.
In addition to his beloved wife, Pamela, Kevin is also survived by his daughter, Natasha Gutierrez; his mother, Sharon (Don) Gary; and father, Jack (Connie) Blessman; brother, Jack (Jennifer) Blessman; father-in-law, David Gutierrez, Jr.; mother-in-law, Susan Chatman; grandmother, Hazel Matthews; sisters-in-law, E'Lisa (Shaun) Kirkpatrick and Angela (Tony) Perysian; brothers-in-law: David Gutierrez III, Ken (Dawn) Chatman, and Bob (Kelli) Chatman; and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandpa, Russell Matthews; brother, Brian Blessman; and his "Momma Dort."
The Funeral Service for Kevin will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Lifetree Community Church, with Pastor Jeff Elzinga officiating. Full Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion, Charles A. Conklin Post #28. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., at the church.
Interment will be at Robinson Township Cemetery at a later date.
