Raymond Neuman Obituary

Raymond Allen Neuman, age 86 of Grand Haven, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital. He was born on October 3, 1937, in Allendale, MI, to the late Rudolph and Anna (Brandt) Neuman. Ray married Nancy Lee Bethke on July 31, 1965, in Grand Haven. She preceded him in death on May 21, 2006, after 41 years of marriage.

Ray graduated from Hudsonville High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the US Army. He worked on the assembly line for Walter Hagen Golf Club Company, and later, as a custodian for Jenison Public Schools.

Ray volunteered for many years for RSVP (Retired Seniors Volunteer Program) with the Grand Haven Police Department, Habitat for Humanity, and the Tri-Cities Historical Museum. He enjoyed woodworking, baking, and classic cars.

Ray will be remembered and missed by his two daughters, Rae Lynn (Mateo) Mancilla and Jody (Craig Aamlie) Neuman-Aamlie; three grandchildren: Fisher Mancilla, Mercedes Mancilla, and Madeleine Aamlie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his son, Kelly Neuman (2010); two sisters, Theona Gee and Mabel Small; and eight brothers: Edwin, Merle, Russell, Royal, Lloyd, Donald, Herbert, and Robert Neuman.

A private family graveside service will take place at Lake Forest Cemetery. A Memorial Celebration of Life for Ray will be held at a later date to be announced.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society of MI or the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan.
