Leone June (Heerspink) Tiles

Leone June Tiles, age 87 of Robinson Township, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence. She was born on June 19, 1936, in Holland, MI to the late Herman and Thressa (Harsevoort) Heerspink. Leone married William “Bill” Tiles on October 19, 1959, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He preceded her in death on December 25, 2018, after 59 years of marriage.

Leone graduated from Holland High School, Class of 1954. She loved to travel, do yard work, and work on jigsaw puzzles. She and Bill started their Blueberry farm in 1976, which their sons now operate.

Leone is survived by her five sons: William D. Tiles, Ronald (Joyce A.) Tiles, Kenneth (Jeannine) Tiles, Craig (Sandra) Tiles, and Terry Tiles (Karen Buckwald); 11 grandchildren: Angelina Copeland, Cody, Henry, Amy, and Ryan Tiles, Tammy (Anthony) Munger, Jake, Hailey, Darren, and Brett Tiles, and Morgan (Manuel) Martinez; four great-grandchildren; sister, Donna McVeigh of Oregon; sister-in-law, Kathleen Heerspink; brothers-in-law, Robert Reenders and Albert Tiles; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her step-father, Abe Berkompas; siblings, Arelene (Theodore) Renkema and Hank Heerspink; sisters-in-law, Betty Reenders, Elsie (Don) Sorensen, Anna (George) Berg, and Joyce M. Tiles; brothers-in-law, James McVeigh, Frank (Wilma) Tiles, John Tiles, Walter (Loretta) Tiles, and Henry Tiles; and many nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service for Leone will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Harlem Reformed Church in Holland, with Pastor John Nyitray officiating. Visitations will be held on Tuesday, March 19th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Klaassen Family Funeral Home, as well as one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Interment will be at Olive Township Cemetery.
